Dictionary Project
The Chandler High School’s Rotary Interact Club works with our members to prepare the special dictionaries we will deliver to more than 400 local third graders in 2008.
Marty & Ann Herder, along with their two daughters, help out at the sticker party. Another pair of hands is always welcome to assist in getting the dictionaries ready for the new group of third graders.
Phil Lewis stretches ?? as he prepares to settle in to apply the stickers. Good Job Phil!!!
Cases of dictionaries were delivered to Hamilton High School to prepare the books for distribution to third grade Chandler students. Rotary Stickers and bookmarks were placed inside each book. Once assembled and divided between the Rotary clubs, they will be presented at the schools by Rotarians at a later date.

President Phil kicks off the 2010 presentations as he addresses the third graders at Galveston Elementary in Chandler
Club members, John Gizzo and Jerry Turner,
above, helped distribute the dictionaries to third graders at Ryan Elementary and Galveston Elementary in Chandler.
The goal of this program is to assist all students in completing the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by providing students with their own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Our club will distribute 650 dictionaries to third graders in Chandler. Club members visit the school to present the dictionary to students. They spend about 20 minutes showing the children how to use the dictionary and all of the information contained in the book.
President, Phil Lewis, is pictured to the left, with Andrea Gallegos who is the 3rd grade teacher coordinator at Galveston. Below, he address the students and raises enthusiasm for using the dictionary among the children.
Phil Lewis and Patrick Cassidy passed out 175 dictionaries to the 3rd graders at Ryan Elementary.
